We had a fantastic week again! Missionary life is the best! We have been working hard to find people to teach this week and we found a couple of new investigators:) One is very humble and teachable. The first lesson we had with him was on Saturday. We contacted him then and he was drunk, had an unkept beard that was yellow from smoking, he has had a rough life as well.
We talked about the Book of Mormon with him, gave him a copy of it and then set up a return appointment for Sunday (yesterday). As we were leaving he even gave us a referral without us asking for one.
When we taught him yesterday we were so shocked because he read a chapter in the Book of Mormon! He was also sober this time, so we taught him the restoration. We had an amazing lesson with him and he committed to baptism October 26th. After, he committed to baptism he said, "I want to go to church though"... before we even invited him to church. We were all smiling from ear to ear. He then called us Sunday evening and thank us for coming over, talking to him again and he was just so excited about everything! We have a lesson with him on Tuesday.
Its hard at times to see everyone the way God sees them. I am sure glad that we were able to look past the unkept beard, the alcohol, the cigarettes ...the hard past he has had and see him for a child of our loving Father in Heaven.
The second one is a lady from El Salvador and she is such a sweet lady that we have begun to teach and she is doing amazing, too. Excited to see what the future holds for both these investigators ... I just hope they see themselves as Heavenly Father sees them.
